Join us this Wednesday (September 24th) for a big celebration at the Gulfport Casino Swing Night! Not only will we be celebrating the new contracts and all the top swing-dance events to come, but it's Allison's Birthday! It's going to be a great evening of swing music & dancing, and we have a super birthday jam planned, plus special guests, cake & other good stuff. If you're one of the hundreds of folks Allison has helped with their dancing this last year, there's no better way to show your appreciation than being there. Halloween Night -- Friday October 31st -- Swing Time presents... Swing Is Dead! Costumed characters, zombie swingsters, and undead dancers will converge upon the spooktacular vintage Grand Ballroom of Centro Asturiano in Tampa for this Halloween dance party! The party features a costume contest with $250+ in cash & prizes, plus loads of chocolate, candy & trick-or-treats! The night starts with a swing dance lesson 8-9pm (no partner needed), followed by dancing 9pm-1am to the ultimate Halloween swing/dance music mix! Admission is $7 with costume or $10 without. Swing Is Dead features special Halloween decor & atmosphere, plus door prizes, costume parade, a steal-dance mixer, and the monster shim sham! All ages are welcome! Centro Asturiano is located at 1913 N. Nebraska Ave., Tampa FL 33602 (at the corner of Palm Ave. & Nebraska Ave. in Ybor City).

LINDY BASH WEEKEND: Swing Time is teaming up with USF's Swinging Bulls for the Lindy Bash Weekend. The weekend kicks off Friday Night, November 7th, at Centro Asturiano with the Swing Time! 1940's USO Swing Dance, our Veteran's Day tribute featuring the 18-piece Ten O'Clock Big Band! Then the Swinging Bulls take it away Saturday and Sunday with 2 days of Lindy Hop workshops and dancing! Stay tuned for more info on the 1940's USO Swing Dance. DANCE CLASSES FOR MIDDLE SCHOOLERS: Swing Time will be instructing the dance classes for the Northeast Cotillion, a monthly gathering of 6th, 7th, and 8th graders, which starts in October and teaches the fundamentals of etiquette and dance. Currently, most grades are full, though there still may be openings for 7th-grade boys, and there is a waiting list for everyone else. Please reply back to this newsletter for more information.
