Hi Everyone, This Wednesday, join us at the Gulfport Casino Swing Night for an exciting evening of swing music & dancing! Coming soon, we have two huge Halloween dance parties planned for both sides of the Bay! Wednesday October 29th is Swing Time's 7th Annual Halloween Costume Ball at the Gulfport Casino. Then Halloween Night -- Friday October 31st -- Swing Time presents Swing Is Dead at Centro Asturiano. Both promise to be monster Halloween celebrations! New Music / CD: This week's new music comes from one of our very own dancers! Elaine Silver (aka Faerie Elaine) is in the process of releasing her 16th CD entitled Blissfully Abundant, and she's advanced us a copy of a new swing song she wrote, from that latest album, entitled Happy and Grateful Swing. And swing it does! This upbeat number makes you want to hit the floor dancing! The song features beautiful vocals by Elaine, backed by Laurel Massé (original Manhattan Transfer member) on harmony. The song also features the monster boogie piano of New Yorker, Jon Cobert, plus Matt Haviland on trombone, Elaine Silver on rhythm guitar, and John Guth on all other instruments. When she's not swing dancing, Elaine Silver is a seasoned performer, touring musician, and recording artist who combines the musical with the metaphysical to present concerts and workshops in Florida and across the USA, over 100 gigs each year! She's worked with and shared the stage with famous authors and musicians ranging from Deepak Chopra to Arlo Guthrie. Originally from New Jersey, Elaine now resides in Sarasota. Halloween Night -- Friday October 31st -- Swing Time presents... Swing Is Dead! Costumed characters, zombie swingsters, and undead dancers will converge upon the spooktacular vintage Grand Ballroom of Centro Asturiano in Tampa for this Halloween dance party! The party features a costume contest with $250+ in cash & prizes, plus loads of chocolate, candy & trick-or-treats! The night starts with a swing dance lesson 8-9pm (no partner needed), followed by dancing 9pm-1am to the ultimate Halloween swing/dance music mix! Admission is $7 with costume or $10 without. Swing Is Dead features special Halloween decor & atmosphere, plus door prizes, costume parade, a steal-dance mixer, and the monster shim sham! All ages are welcome!
