Tampa Bay's Swing Dance News for June 29th 2009

This Friday, July 3rd, the Swing Time! Pre-Independence-Day Celebration happens at the Gulfport Casino, featuring live & swingin' music by Charlie Vegas & the New Blues Combo, plus free watermelon for everyone! Everyone's encouraged to wear red, white, and blue! The event kicks off with a group swing-dance lesson, 8-9pm (no partner needed), followed by live music & dancing, 9:00pm-12:30am. Invite all your friends, and join us Friday for this incredible grand celebration! How 'bout that Charlie Vegas band! These guys are a hot commodity -- the band that recently backed doo-wop & rockabilly legends, The Coasters, Rosie Flores, and Wanda Jackson!

Make a night of it in Gulfport: Plenty of fine restaurants, pubs, and shops are within walking distance of the Gulfport Casino, plus you can stroll the beach, walk the pier, sing karaoke, and much more! As an added attraction, Gulfport's First-Friday Art Walk will be in full swing on July 3rd (6-10pm). You can't beat the Gulfport Casino Ballroom and waterfront area for genuine atmosphere!

Join us this Wednesday (July 1st) at the Gulfport Casino Swing Night for Lindy Hop & Swing Rueda Lessons 6-7pm (yes, you can start this Wednesday if you haven't already), followed by Swing Dance Lessons 7-8pm, Swing Music & Dancing 8-11pm, and great all-around fun for all ages! SCHOOL'S OUT: Take advantage of our ongoing Student Special! Just flash your student ID at the door at this Wednesday's Gulfport Casino Swing Night, pay your $7 admission, and receive a Free Pass good for any upcoming Wednesday! Great turnout we had the past many weeks.... Swing Time has been hosting this event seven years now, and this May was a record turnout, and June was also a record month! Can't wait for July! Lindy Hop & Swing Rueda Update #4 This Wednesday (July 1st), we'll offer four simultaneous levels: Level 3, Level 2.5, Level 2, and Level 1. Everyone's encouraged to arrive early (doors open 5:45pm) to practice and to allow classes to start on time. Every Wednesday in July, the 6-7pm Bonus Lesson will be Lindy Hop & Swing Rueda, followed by the Swing Dance Lesson 7-8pm, and Swing Music & Dancing 8-11pm. Get Ready for Six Different Levels -- Beginning to Advanced -- of Lindy Hop (the partner swing dance) and Swing Rueda (the partner-switching group dance). There'll be dance exhibitions at band intermission, plus free watermelon for all who attend! Everyone's encouraged to wear red, white, and blue. Swing Time is Florida's Premier Swing Event, held one Friday each month in Tampa Bay at the Gulfport Casino Ballroom. The Gulfport Casino is located in the St. Petersburg area at 5500 Shore Blvd. S., Gulfport FL 33707.

Every Wednesday in July, the 6pm Bonus Lesson topic will be Lindy Hop & Swing Rueda! Get Ready for Six Different Levels -- Beginning to Advanced -- of Lindy Hop (the partner swing dance) and Swing Rueda (the partner-switching group dance). Lindy Hop will advance, expand, and add excitement to your swing dancing! Swing Rueda will give you opportunities to dance your Lindy Hop with a roomful of dancers!
