Hi Everyone!

This Wednesday (October 3rd), join us at the beautiful & historic Gulfport Casino for Swing Night! The night features Tampa Bay's top swing-dance lesson, 7-8pm, followed by hours of exciting music and dancing on one of the biggest and best dance floors in the world! We've been working hard to greatly expand the musical repertoire, and have received overwhelmingly positive feedback, so we know you'll like what you hear. The Gulfport Casino Ballroom is a true vintage dance hall that has hosted dancing at its present location ever since the original swing era of the 1930's! It's located directly on the waterfront of Boca Ciega Bay, so as a bonus attraction, you can enjoy walking the beach before or after the dances.

This Thursday (October 4th), Swing Centro starts with a not-to-miss dance class, 7-8pm, entitled Get Your Kicks! Of all the classes we teach, this Charleston / East-Coast Swing Mix could very well be the most popular of all time! You'll learn how to swing with a kick, how to combine Charleston and East-Coast Swing kick-steps, and how to work not just your legs but your arms and body into the dance. In addition, you'll learn a number of very cool moves, styles, and combinations! Whether you have zero prior dance experience or you've been lindy hopping for years, we guarantee you'll learn something new! After the class, dance from 8pm to midnight in the fabulous vintage surroundings of Centro Asturiano! Swing Centro is an up-and-coming Tampa swing dance that keeps attracting more and more dancers each week. And the dancers come to dance... with many staying all the way to midnight! Come experience the excitement this Thursday!

Preparations are in full swing for Swing Time's 7th Anniversary Celebration, a huge weekend of live music and swing dancing featuring one of the U.S.A.'s top swing bands, Dr Zoot! Buy your tickets early... This week we're offering tickets, which will cost $15 at the door, for only $10 if purchased at this coming Wednesday's (10/3) Gulfport Casino Swing Night or at this coming Thursday's (10/4) Swing Centro. Both events feature one of U.S.A.'s Top Swing Bands... DR ZOOT!

Swing Time celebrates seven years of putting on Florida's premier swing events, with two nights of spectacular swinging in two of Florida's swingin'est cities! Friday, October 19th, 2007, Swing Time returns to the place where it all started in October 2000 -- the Grand Ballroom of Centro Asturiano in Tampa! Then on Saturday, October 20th, 2007, the excitement moves to Dance Orlando, Orlando's grandest dance hall! Both nights of Swing Time's 7th Anniversary Celebration feature one of the U.S.A.'s top swing acts, Dr Zoot! And each night of the Celebration includes hours of live music & dancing (9pm-1am), a group swing-dance lesson (8-9pm; no partner needed), anniversary cake, prize giveaways, and a Jack & Jill dance contest at intermission with $100 cash first prize!

Dr Zoot is a horn-driven swingin' 7-piece dance band, complete with trumpet, trombone, sax/flute/clarinet, piano, guitar, upright bass, drums, and vocals! From jumpin' originals to big band favorites, these guys play it all, give it their own unique style, swing hard, and have fun doin' it! The excitement is contagious, which always keeps the dance floor movin' & shakin'! Now in their 10th year, Dr Zoot has recorded six CDs (their latest 2006 release is Pay the Viper), and their music has been featured in numerous CD compilations, TV shows, and films. The band is wildly popular with swing dancers and music lovers across the USA, regularly playing the nation's heppest clubs and dance venues, from New York to L.A., from Glen Echo's Spanish Ballroom in DC to the Showboat Casino in Atlantic City... and soon to appear in Tampa and Orlando for Swing Time's 7th Anniversary Celebration!

Based out of Pittsburgh, Dr Zoot made their first-ever Swing Time appearance back in April, and here's what we had to say: "In the seven years we've been putting on live-music swing-dance events, many people, including lindy hoppers, swing kids, and old timers too, told us this was the best band ever. 7TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION WEEKEND
Full Schedule of Events for October 19th & 20th

Swing Time's 7th Anniversary Celebration is shaping up to be a huge weekend of live music and swing dancing! We're bringing one of the U.S.A.'s top swing bands, Dr Zoot, to Florida to headline two incredible nights of dance excitement at Centro Asturiano (Tampa FRI 10/19) and at Dance Orlando (SAT 10/20). After Friday's main event at Centro Asturiano, a late-night blues dance party will happen nearby, 1am-5am, in Tampa. (RSVP requested for Tampa Blues Party; please email back with your name and number of guests if you think you'll attend; we want to make sure it's at a big enough location.) Saturday in Orlando, swing-dance champions Joel & Lenka teach an all-day swing workshop, 11am-6pm, entitled Footloose & Fancy Free featuring Cool Moves plus a special Aerials Master Class. (Click for Workshop Info.) After Saturday's main event at Dance Orlando, local dancers are hosting a late-night blues dance, 1am-5am, at the Zebra Room, 2609 Gowen St, Orlando FL 32806. There may even be some informal dinner meetups prior to Friday's and Saturday's main events. Stay tuned to future email newsletters for additional details!
