Next Wednesday (Jan 7), the Gulfport Casino Swing Night resumes, with an exciting all-new format every Wednesday night! Two lessons will be offered, Lindy Hop 6-7pm and Swing 7-8pm, followed by Music & Dancing 8-11pm. Both lessons are free with paid admission to the event, and admission is just $7. Plus, students get 2-for-1 admission every Wednesday! Also, if it's your birthday that Wednesday (or the six days prior), you get free admission! A huge thank-you goes to the 1100+ people who attended last night's Swingin' the New Year celebration at the St. Petersburg Coliseum! We expected this to be the biggest swing-dance event in modern Florida history, and it indeed shattered all prior records. We'd like to thank Swing Gang, Buffalo Gal Vintage, On Pointe, The Coliseum, Linda Ruth Tosetti (Babe Ruth's granddaughter), and all the wonderful staff and volunteers who helped make this event happen.

Friday, January 2nd, 2009, Swing Time! returns to the Gulfport Casino Ballroom for an exciting evening of live music and swing dancing, featuring the hot swingin' sounds of The Venturas! The event starts with a group swing-dance lesson, 8-9pm (no partner needed), followed by live music & dancing, 9:00pm-12:30am, plus a dance contest at intermission with $100 Cash 1st Prize!

A favorite of Bay-area swingsters, The Venturas have also made a big impression on the Florida music scene, receiving rave reviews from press & fans alike, playing for tens of thousands of people, winning Best Band awards, and recording four CDs! Each time they've played Swing Time, the band has put on a smash performance for a huge audience of fans. And each time they've played, people have remarked that it's been an incredible night of dancing, music, and all-around fun!

Swing Time is Florida's Premier Swing Event, held one Friday each month in Tampa Bay at the Gulfport Casino Ballroom. The Gulfport Casino is located in the St. Petersburg area at 5500 Shore Blvd. S., Gulfport FL 33707.
